A short course on cinematic storytelling, ON SCREEN provides audiences with a casual place to view films in a variety of categories, while exploring questions, techniques and ideas about filmmaking.

Discussions and materials are provided, with the basics of cinematic storytelling as the focus: story/idea, editing, sound, script, and cinematography. Weekly screenings are followed by discussions about the role of film in culture, art, and politics, as well as the art and techniques of filmmaking.

Screenings and discussions are free and open to the public, and curated and led by filmmaker Vanessa Vadim, and writer/producer Paul van Winkle. Filmmakers and members of the film community will join us periodically to share their experience and expertise. Come for a single film, or follow the entire course.
